Mortgage lending figures remain subdued in January
The Bank of England reported this week that the number of approved homeloans remained subdued in January 2009.
The number of loans given to consumers to buy houses remained at a standstill in January, showing no rise from December’s weak figure, the Bank of England reported today.
According to citywire:
The bank’s data showed that the 31,000 loans approved for house purchase in January was in line with December figures, while the number of loans approved for remortgaging at 34,000 was actually lower than in December.
